Fuelpumps, restrictions christmas and a failed apocalypse!

Hello again!

Well the apocalypse fell through, not that i did belivied it but, it would be fun of something special happened every now and then. But atleast we have christmas to look forward to, as i'm Swedish i celebrate christmas the 24th and not the 25th.

Anyways, lets see what has happened in the motorcycle-section! ;)

I've researched fuelpumps on the XRV 750 and fortunately the -94 had a more reliable fuelpump than the later models, but i will still tear it apart the see if there are any major injuries ect. It seems as the fuelpump takes damage when you run out of gas, cause what happens is that, when you run out of gas the fuelpump tries to collect fuel though the fuel is gone which leads to that the fuelpump speeds up which leads friction and damage.

As i've already said i need to restrict my motorcycle because my driverslicence only allows me to drive motorcycles with 35KW at the highest.

We called a workshop and they said the it would be OK if they built "the restriction" and but the veichle on a dynojet too get paper on how much horsepower/KW it would have.

For now i'm on christmas break so i hope i'll get alot done before returning to school!

So the plans are going as planned and all i can do is wishing you a HAPPY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR 2013!

Today i removed the gastank and the airbox it took about 20 minutes to do that so i had plenty of time to polish the area under the tank.
Sadly i encountred a oilleak, i hope it's just the gasket to the cylinder that's needed to be changed.
If it is it's just a mather of 2 screws and 5 minutes work sooo not that hard!

Soon i'll be able to remove the carburetors and take a look at the fuelpump.
And why all the nag about the fuelpump?
Yeah that is because on these motorcycles (Honda XRV 750).
The fuelpump is quite sensible and can easliy be broken, so i will simply change the sensible part of the fuelpump!

Someting i thought was odd was that the spark plugs are under the tank!!
A such well tought through motorcycle have it's spark plugs under the tank!
Weird...

Anyways, i will not be able to put the motorcycle togheter before i've restricted it to atleast 35kw (for driving license purposes).
Changed forkoil and checked the fuelpump, so we'll see how that's working out!

Have a great week, see ya!

Ammo panniers and fuelsystem check!

Yesterday i got the ammoboxes home!
Had to carry them about 1km/0,7miles to get home but it was totaly worth it!

Tonight i going to remove the gastank and hope that i will have time to check the fuelpump aswell for faults.

Pictures will come as soon as possible!

Panniers

Yesterday i ordered 2 ammo boxes.
These will turn out to be panniers, sure they weigh the doubble of the touratech panniers, but the price of two touratech panniers you can get 24 of these ammoboxes, atleast in Sweden.

So i'd figured it was worth it and they will surely take more beating aswell!

I bought them here.

But you'll find them here aswell!

Now it's just to wait and when i get the boxes measurments will start for a pannier rack!

Bike preparations!

Some days ago i bought a Honda african twin 750 -94!
I was pretty excited to get it home and start to repair it. I mean come on it is a -94 it isn't brand new.
Nevertheless i got it for 2000 euros and it had 65,000km on the clock!

The AT(=africa twin) was black belivie it or not, cause som previous owner had "sticker tape" all over the machine. We asked ourself if we dared to take to horrible tape off and see what's under.
And we did and i'll tell ya the result couldn't be better under the tape a perfectly fine paint job existed!

As the days has gone and the cold starting to creep in over Sweden (my home country).
Me and my dad had already figured out what was needed to be done.

- Fuel Pump
- Choke
- Esthetic problems
- A whole lot of welding small parts of the bike. (not the frame or any part that is significant to structure)

Also a pair of panniers have to be bought or made.

We are thinking of buying a pair of army ammo cases and create them to perfectly fine panniers, but we'll se that happens!
